{column1}A few bands set to take part in San Francisco Bay's forthcoming Treasure Island Festival have reportedly been revealed. Stereogum reports that MGMT, MSTRKRFT, and Girl Talk are among the acts to take part in the two-day bash, which will be held in Treasure Island, California, located in the San Francisco Bay on October 17 and 18. Also reportedly set play the festival are the Flaming Lips, Beirut, and the Decemberists. The official lineup is set to be announced on July 13 so this will have to hold us off till then. Despite rampant rumors that the festival would not take place this year due to the down economy, organizers have announced that the event will in not only go on, but will be free. The festival will now take place over one day, August 30 and will now take place at Baltimore's Merriweather Post Pavilion. Also set to play the one-day bash is The Bravery, Taking Back Sunday, Girl Talk, Public Enemy, and Mates of State. {column1}Simian Mobile Disco have released the album artwork for their forthcoming album, 'Temporary Pleasure'. The album, and follow-up to their 2007 debut ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release‘, is set for release August 17 (UK only). As we previously reported, the new album will feature several guest including the Gossip’s Beth Ditto, Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor, Super Furry Animals‘ Gruff Rhys, and Jamie Lidell. The short, entitled ‘Treat Me Like Your Mother‘, will premiere on July 11 in the U.S. on Cinemax with a UK debut set for July 13th on Channel 4.
Speaking about the film and director Jonathan Glazer, Dead Weather man Jack White said, “it was overwhelmingly electric working with Jonathan Glazer on this project, which feels more short film than video.”
“I’ve never felt an intensity like I did on the set of this shoot. Absolutely violent, explosive, and poetic.”
Glazer, who has directed award winning music video for Radiohead, said, “Theirs was a beautiful energy to tap in to. You can’t ask for anything more.”
