The White Stripes Vs. The U.S. Air Force

Well if you watched the Super Bowl this weekend then you most likely watched the commercials and you probably recognized the White Stripes track, “Fell In Love With A Girl“, on the commercial for the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

The problem is the soundtrack for the commercial, which appears to be a re-recorded version of the track with lyrics removed, was unauthorized and the band isn’t happy about it.

White Stripes Statement

“We believe our song was re-recorded and used without permission of The White Stripes, our publishers, label or management,” reads a statement on Thirdmanrecords.com.

After hearing the sound track on the Air Force commercial it does appear to be the White Stripes track, albeit changed up a bit.

If you head over to band’s label website, Thirdmanrecords.com, you can compare the original track with the commercial and judge for yourself.

The band want to make clear that although they do support this nation’s military they don’t wish to be “a cog in the wheel of the current conflict.”

The band, their management, and label plan to stop the future use of the track on the commercial.
