Bloc Party Countdown Clock Upsets Fans

Over the weekend Bloc Party posted a cryptic countdown on their website, Blocparty.com, and several fans speculated as to what it would reveal when the countdown ended today (July 7) at 11am (BST). Would it reveal new material? Was Bloc Party going to give away new music? A free show, perhaps? No, no and sadly no, none of those speculations were correct. Once the countdown reached zero all that was revealed was… a radio plug. That’s right, instead of anything new and exciting the clock revealed a plug for Zane Lowe’s show on BBC Radio 1 that is set to air tonight (July 7) at 7:30pm (BST). As you might imagine several fans are upset by the plug, many waiting as the seconds counted down to zero hoping to be the first to know what it would reveal. The plug fell short of revealing what or who would be on the show, so there is still a chance we might get to hear some new Bloc Party material.

UPDATE: Bloc Party made it up to fans, the band not only announced a new single set for release next month, but they also previewed it on the Zane Lowe show. ‘Mercury’ is out August 11.
