Wolfmother Confirm Split Up

Rumors had been swirling around about the break-up of Wolfmother but until a few days ago that’s all they were, rumors. Well all that has changed now as the band themselves have confirmed the split. In a statement released by the band’s label, Universal Music Australia, the split was confirmed and attributed to “frictions” within the band. The statement explained that bassist/keyboardist Chris Ross decided to leave the band because of “irreconcilable personal and musical differences” immediately following their headline set at the Splendour In The Grass festival on Sunday (August 3) in Byron Bay Australia. Following Ross‘ departure drummer Myles Heskett decided he would also leave the band, preferring not to be part of any new line-up. As for frontman Adrew Stockday he’s sticking with Wolfmother, the moniker at least, and is planning on searching for a new line-up with hopes of releasing a new album before the end of the year.

As for thousands of disappointed Wolfmother fans…the band hopes they “understand that in spite of their best efforts over a long period of time, they just could not find a harmonious way to work together and that has lead to the decisions announced today.”
