John McCain Sued By Singer Jackson Browne Over Anti-Obama Ad

John McCain has found himself front and center of a lawsuit brought against him by singer Jackson Browne. Browne is accusing the Republican presidential candidate of using his 1977 hit song ‘Running On Empty‘ in a campaign advertisement without his permission. The suit, which was filed in US District Court in Los Angeles, names McCain, the Republican National Committee and the Ohio Republican Party as defendants. According to the Associated Press Browne is seeking at least $75,000 in damages as well as a permanent injunction against further use of his music by the McCain party. Speaking about the suit, Browne’s lawyer said his client is a “lifelong liberal activist and supporter of Democratic candidates, and use of his song and his voice in a commercial bashing Barack Obama is anathema to Jackson.”

The ad at the center of the lawsuit mocks an energy-conserving idea proposed by Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential candidate.

Way to go Jackson Browne!! I fully support you. Thank you! Now let’s tell the American people that American oil drilling will only reduce gas prices by one penny! It is a lie by the Republican Party.

I think this was a given by Mr. Browne as the republican party with McCain seek to do Americans.

It has previously been determined that the song was not used by the McCain organiztion but was used by another organization in Ohio. It would appear that this is just another dirty ply to use against McCain. This news is old news why are you bringing it up again.

The “other” organization was the Ohio Republican Party, which is also named in the lawsuit.

This is great. I’ve always liked Jackson Browne. The only thing “Running On Empty” is McCain’s head, or the Ohio Republican Party’s thought processes for thinking Browne would tolerate this use of his song. Go Jackson Browne!!!!

Hey Jackson – Daryl is gone and you won’t get her back so quit taking out your anger on old guys by filing silly lawsuits. Don’t worry – you’ll find a new groupie some day. It must suck to not be relevant anymore (assuming you ever were).

Don’t you just hate these petty suits. No wonder our courts are so overbooked. I use to really like Jackson Browne, before he started beating up on women (remember Darrel Hannah) Now he’s lost my respect about anything!

Jackson Browne, is a girlfriend beating, used up loser – has been. THE ONLY way to get his name into the news is to insert himself in the political process. IF the McCain camp used his song, they can pay him, but to sue is supposed to the LAST in a process of events.

Liberals ruin this country every day!

Jackson Browne…tough luck bud. You have lost airplay now too. No more song on the radio, cuz we don’t want to get sued either. Love a big time radio programmer!
