War Child Benefit Album Gets Pushed Back
October 8th, 2008
The forthcoming War Child Benefit compilation album ‘Heroes‘ has been postponed. The fund-raising album, which is set to feature covers of classic songs written by Paul McCartney, Ray Davies and Joy Division, has been postponed until early 2009 from its previously scheduled date of Nov. 24.
Duffy, Beck, Hot Chip and Rufus Wainwright are among the artists set to perform cover songs on the charity album.
A statement issued by the War Child charity read: “We have been overwhelmed and amazed by the response to the project. The wealth of talent who have contacted us wishing to support the charity and contribute to the album is humbling and we are delighted to have been able to change our deadlines to accommodate some of them. It was impossible to say ‘no’.”
War Child focuses on providing assistance to children in areas of conflict and post-conflict.
