MGMT are going after French President Nicolas Sarkozy with a lawsuit accusing the President of using their song ‘Kids‘ without permission.

The band claim Sarkozy used the hit song in a couple of online videos as well as using it as his campaign soundtrack.

For his part, President Sarkozy has admitted that he did use the track at the UMP party’s national congress but says he was unaware that permission was not obtained.

According to BBC News, the President tried to make up for the lack of permission by offering the band one euro, which was rejected by the duo.

MGMT’s lawyer claim that although the administration did pay 53 euros to license the track the amount is no longer enough to cover the additional play of the song on the online videos which are now all over the internet.
