British Supermarkets Censor The Manic Street Preachers

A chain of British supermarkets which include Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, and Morrisons seem to have a problem with the Manic Street Preachers new album.

The supermarket chains feel that the cover art for ‘Journal For Plague Lovers‘ may be to graphic for their customers and have decided to censor the album art.

All copies of the new album sold through these supermarkets will now come with “plain slipcases”, reports the BBC.

Apparently representative for the supermarket chains felt the cover appeared to depict a bloody child, which they felt might be disturbing to some customers.

“We felt that some customers might consider this particular album cover to be inappropriate if it were prominently displayed on the shelf,” said a spokesperson for the Sainsbury’s chain to the BBC.
