As you may have heard by now, this past weekendsElectric Daisy Carnival ended tragically with the death of a 15 year old girl.
The late night rave, which took place at the L.A. Coliseum, also saw hundreds of attendees injured with more than 100 hospitalized.
The future of the event is now in doubt as the city’s mayor is debating whether to allow the use of publicly owned facilities like the Coliseum for future raves and concerts.
Speaking to a local news outlet Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said, “We’re going to have to assess whether or not these events will occur in the future.”
Over 180,000 people attended the two night festival and event organizers had stationed paramedics at an on-site command post to quickly treat any injured attendees.
The on-site command post, however, might not have been enough as the L.A. Times is reporting that more than 226 people were injured and 114 hospitalized.
One of those hospitalized was the 15 year old victim who died Tuesday of injuries related to a drug overdose suffered during the event.
Among the acts that took part in the 14th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival were Moby,Deadmau5, Basement Jaxx, and the Black Eyed Peas‘ will.i.am.
