YouTube Gets Hacked, Targets Bieber Fans

YouTube was the victim of a malicious attack Sunday, July 4th which targetedJustin Beiber fans.

Many fans of the teen singer watching his videos on the video sharing site were duped into clicking messages that appeared on the screen claiming Bieber had died.

Several of Bieber‘s videos posted on the site had alerts pop up claiming Bieber had died in a car accident and recommending users visit cnn.com for more information.

The attack was reportedly the work of the 4chan bulletin board community known to have previously committed similar attacks on other sites.

The community exploited the ability to add HTML in comments and inserted codes into comments to create the pop-up alert.

YouTube became aware of the exploit and deleted all comments in question and is looking into the incident.
