Joan Jett has sent a letter requesting that the San Diego County Fair consider putting a stop to elephant rides at the fair.
The rock legend, who is set to perform at the Del Mar fair at the end of this month, has urged fair organizers stop the ride on animal cruelty grounds, according to PETA.
The move reportedly comes after a recent video was released showing the company behind the ride, Have Trunk Will Travel, beating and abusing an elephant.
According to Fox 5, the local news affiliate, festival organizers said they still plan on offering elephant rides despite Joan Jett‘s request.
