This past Thursday (6/23) The Black Lips played a sold out show at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, California.
The band, who are playing in support of their latest album ‘Arabia Mountain‘, took the stage a little after 11:30pm and immediately pumped up the crowd who all seemed to be packed in the middle of the floor ready to mosh.
The band did not disappoint, as soon as they kicked off their set the floor seemed to turn into a giant mosh pit.
Preceding the Black Lips Brooklyn based Cerebral Ballzy who started out by shouting “we’re Cerebral Ballzy and we’re from Brooklyn” and jumping into their set.
The Black Lips set went well into the night and at no point did the band’s energy or excitement dwindle, if anything it just kept growing.
Their live performance was one of the best i’ve seen in a long time, I was so impressed I woke up Friday morning and got myself a ticket for their L.A. gig that night.
The Black Lips are definitely one of those bands you just have to see live.
