Last month we told you about Blur/Gorillaz lead singer Damon Albarn’s new project recording an album in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a few friends including Kwes, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Marc Antoine, Jo Gunton, producer Dan The Automator (Franz Ferdinand), Jneiro Jarel, and XL Recordings founder Richard Russell.
Now Albarn and his pals have finished the album, titled ‘Kinshasa One Two‘, with a planned digital release set for October 4 in the U.S. (October 3 in the UK).
The album was recorded in Kinshasa over five days, in collaboration with local musicians.
Proceeds from the sale of the forthcoming album will go to Oxfam to help their relief efforts in Democratic Republic of Congo.
