Following a police ban on Babyshambles headlining performance at this year’s Moonfest, the three-day fest has been canceled. The festival was set to take place August 29-31 in Wiltshire but has been canceled after Wiltshire police, fearing Babyshambles performance could incite a riot, forced event organizers to strike them from the bill. BBC News is reporting that due to their banned performance event organizers made the decision to cancel the event. John Green, one of the events organizers, placed the blame squarely on police saying their decision was “due to the ramifications presented to us by the actions of the police.”

Using footage found on YouTube of a stage invasion and near riot from a previous solo gig by frontman Pete Doherty, the police took their case to North Wiltshire magistrates court arguing Babyshambles‘ performance could incite violence and asking the court to ban them, they agreed.
