The band dropped the tour to work on their sophomore album instead.

“It is with no little remorse and disappointment that we are compelled to cancel these dates.

The weeklong festival will run from February 24 through March 1, 2009 at venues throughout San Francisco, CA.
Also confirmed for the forthcoming event is a “special performance” by Antony and the Johnsons at Davies Symphony Hall.
Over 100 bands are set to take part in Noise Pop 2009.
More acts are still to be confirmed.

Bassist Adam Schlesinger recently told Billboard that the band hoped to release the new album sometime in 2009.
“We still have a ways to go, but we have eight songs that are relatively close to complete now. We’re looking to regroup after the New Year and do the second batch,” Schlesinger told Billboard.
“I think we’re trying some different things on this record, but we’re still the same band, to me. It’s kind of too early to say what direction it’s going to as a whole.”

The annual XMas concert will take place December 13 and 14 at the Gibson Amphitheatre, in Universal City, CA.
The fist night will see performances by The Offspring, Stone Temple Pilots, Rise Against, AFI, and more. The second night will see sets by The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, The Cure, Death Cab For Cutie, Snow Patrol and more.
