Franz Ferdinand’s third album won’t be out till January but fans will get to hear their first single from the forthcoming album when it is included on Madden NFL 09’s soundtrack. The soundtrack for the game is due out August 12. The band also recently revealed a few live dates where you might also catch a couple of new songs.

Cold War Kids have revealed a few details about their as-yet-untitled second album. The band have been in the studio recording material for the new album, and follow-up to 2006’s ‘Robbers & Cowards‘, and are expected to release it sometime in September. If you can’t wait that long to hear the new album, the band are expected to preview a few songs off of it on their current US tour which continues today with a free show in Prospect Park, NY as part of Celebrate Brooklyn series. The band is also set for several festivals including Sunset Junction and Voodoo fest.

The Kooks are set to play Rumsey Playfield in Central Park among other venues in their forthcoming US tour. The jaunt, which kicks off September 10 at the Rumsey Playfield, also known as Summerstage, will see the band perform at venues both big and small including the House Of Blues in Dallas, Texas. Cut Copy are set to release a single from their new album ‘In Ghost Colours‘. The single, ‘Hearts On Fire‘, will be release on July 5 and will feature remixes of the song by Midnight Juggernauts, Holy Ghost!, and Knightlife. The band, who are in the midst of a European tour, have also added a few more dates to the jaunt.

Sigur Rós have extended their ongoing tour to include several dates across the US and Japan. The Icelandic group is currently touring in Europe but will soon head over to the states to play dates in New York, San Diego, Seattle and Los Angeles as well as several others. They are currently touring in support of their new album ‘Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust‘, which is out today via EMI in the UK and tomorrow (June 24) via XL in North America.

Tegan and Sarah are gearing up for their forthcoming US tour which will see the two play consecutive nights in a couple cities. The duo, who are playing tonight at Shepherds Bush in London, are set to play two consecutive nights at Terminal 5 in New York on October 5 and 6th. They are also set for four consecutive nights at Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on October 16-19. The tour will also include stops at the Street Scene festival in San Diego and San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Festival.

Santogold will be joining Coldplay on several dates on their forthcoming US tour. Santi, who recently performed at Coachella, will be opening for Coldplay and Co. on their jaunt and will be supporting the release of her self-titled debut album. Santi is also set for her own headlining slot at Central Park Summer Stage on July 20 and Lollapalloza in August.

The Raconteurs and The Kills are joining forces for a North American tour that will feature The Kills supporting Jack White and Co. on most dates. The tour will kick off on September 14 in Morrison, CO and will include consecutive performances in Portland on September 16 and 17 as well as consecutive performances in Los Angeles on September 22 and 23.

Tokyo Police Club are gearing up for a handful of dates throughout California and New York this autumn. The tour, in support of their debut album ‘Elephant Shell‘, will kick off at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles on July 24. Among the dates announced are shows in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and New York.

Bright Eyes‘ frontman Conor Oberst is celebrating the release of his upcoming solo album ‘Conor Oberst‘ with a tour set to kick of next month. Among the dates revealed are shows on both coasts including San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, New York and Saratoga. The solo album, which is set to hit store shelves on August 4 in the UK and the following day in the US, was produced by Oberst and engineer Andy LeMaster. Backing up Oberst on the album are a group of musicians who called themselves The Mystic Valley Band.
