Kiss Frontman Paul Stanley Abandons Gig

Singer drops gig due to heart problems

August 01, 2007

Kiss co-frontman Paul Stanley was forced to abandon a gig at a California casino on Friday (July 27) due to heart problems. The show, which was at the Soboba Casino, was not cancelled and instead band mates Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer played as a trio, the first time in the bands history. Stanley abandoned the gig after his heart rate increased to over twice the normal rate. In a statement to fans Stanley said, "My heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour." The problem was so severe paramedics had to stop and restart his heart to give it a regular rhythm. After consulting with doctors the singer was advised to drop the performance and was taken to a local hospital where he was later released.
