Moby and Santogold are among the artists set to perform at a special invitation-only party next week to celebrate the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

De La Soul is also set to perform at the bash which is being hosted by MoveOn.org, OBEY Giant, Michael Stipe, Rosario Dawson, Heather Graham as well as several others.

The party, entitled ‘Manifest Hope: DC Inauguration Party’, is set to take place Monday January 19.

The Beastie Boys are set to play an intimate show to celebrate the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama later this month in Washington D.C.

The special gig entitled ‘Hey, America Feels Kinda’ Cool Again’ will also see performances by Sheryl Crow and Justin Jones.

The show, which is presented by Rock The Vote, will take place Monday, January 19 at the 9:30 Club.

Bruce Springsteen is reportedly set to perform a show at the National Mall on January 18 as part of Barack Obama’s inauguration week welcome event.

Sources have revealed to the Washington Post plans for a free show to take place on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

The gig would take place two days before the inauguration set for January 20.

Late last year Springsteen, who was an early Obama supporter, played several free shows in support of the then Democratic presidential candidate.

‘Big Shoulders Ball: Chicago Celebrates Change’ is set to take place on January 19 at the Black Cat venue in the city.

The event will also see performances by Waco Bros., Eleventh Dream Day, Jon Langford, Sally Timms, David ‘Honeyboy’ Edwards, Ken Vandermark, Freakwater, Icy Demons and Judson Claiborne, among others.

In celebration of Barack Obama’s presidential win, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke is giving fans a free song.

Yorke has released a new remix of his solo track ‘Harrowdown Hill‘ and has made it available to download now at Radiohead.com.

“In celebration of November 5, Jonny’s birthday amid bonfire and fireworks in the UK and the dawn of a new era in politics in the USA, I humbly donate a remix of ‘Harrowdown Hill‘ that was finished ages ago during the band webcasts, a small reminder of the dark days of Bush’s,” wrote Yorke on his website.

The original version of ‘Harrowdown Hill‘ appeared on Yorke’s 2006 solo album ‘The Eraser‘.



Radiohead
Joanna Newsom is showing her support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama with a free show.

The singer is set to perform on Monday (October 20) at the Nightingale Concert Hall on the University of Nevada campus in Reno.

Unfortunately the show is only open to people with a Nevada State ID or drivers license, so out-of-state fans are out of luck.

The free show is to encourage people to vote in the upcoming election. Nevada residents don’t have to wait till November 4th to vote since the state has an early voting program which begins this Saturday (October 18) and runs through October 31.

Tickets for the free show will be handed out at 10am at the Joe Crowley Student Union.

The Beastie Boys have added days to their “get out and vote” tour, in support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The six date jaunt is now set to kick-off October 27 in Charlotte, NC where they will be joined by Santogold and Sheryl Crow.

As we previously reported the band is set for a series of US shows to encourage people to vote in the upcoming November election.

Ben Harper, Tenacious D, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, David Crosby and Graham Nash are among the acts to take part in the “get out and vote” series of shows.

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James has announced a second acoustic show in support of US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

James, who is set to play at a similar benefit show tonight (October 8) at Schubas in Chicago, is now set to perform in support of the presidential candidate on October 16 at the Water Tower in Louisville, Kentucky.

All proceeds from both performances will go to the Obama Victory Fund.

DEVO have also announced a benefit show of their own. The band is set for show at the Civic Theatre in their hometown of Akron, Ohio on October 17 to benefit the Summit County Democratic Party.


Franz Ferdinand turned out to be the surprise “special guest” at last night’s Barackrock benefit in Brooklyn in support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The event, which raised money for the Obama campaign, also saw performances by Les Savy Fav, Fiery Furnaces, Andrew Bird, Eugene Mirman, Kumail Nanjiani.

The fundraiser took place at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and saw the acts perform on several stages.

Franz Ferdinand are set to return to the Music Hall of Williamsburg later tonight (October 8) for their sold-out headlining show.

Bruce Springsteen really, really, really seems to like presidential candidate Barack Obama. The singer has once again announced benefit shows to raise money for the presidential candidate. Springsteen is now set for two additional benefit shows, both at college campuses, and both taking place next week. The first added show is a performance at the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday (October 5). The second show will take place Monday (October 6) at Eastern Michigan University.

Springsteen previously announced two other benefit shows, the first, which is free, is taking place this Saturday (October 4) in Philadelphia. The second previously announced benefit show will take place October 16 at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom alongside Billy Joel.
