Coldplay frontman Chris Martin recently revealed plans to release a new album later this year.

In an interview with Globo.com the frontman said he hoped to release the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends‘ before the end of the year.

“Hopefully this Christmas,” revealed Martin.

Martin also said the band have taken steps to prevent the album from leaking out early like previous releases.

“There’s only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files,” revealed the singer.

“Even we don’t know how to do it. We couldn’t even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it,” he continued. [via NME]

In what is becoming a regular occurrence,  Coldplay have found themselves  in the middle of a lawsuit again.

This time the suit is being brought by songwriter Sammie Lee Smith who claims the band stole three of his songs, “Yellow,” “Clocks” and “Trouble“.

The accuser claims to have written all three tracks only to have the band steal all of them from him.

Late last year we told you about a plagiarism lawsuit brought against Coldplay by musician Joe Satriani, now we get word that that lawsuit has been dropped.

Satriani sued Chris Martin and Co. claiming the frontman plagiarized his 2004 song ‘If I Could Fly‘ for the band’s 2008 single ‘Viva La Vida‘.

Coldplay denied the allegations stating, “If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him.”

The lawsuit, which was filed in California District Court, was dismissed from court on Monday (September 14).

No exact reason was given as to why the suit was dropped but rumors suggest the band may have settled out-of-court.
