Adam Ficek is set to release his third album under the RKC, formerly Roses Kings Castles, moniker.

On October 31 RKC will self-release new album, ‘British Plastic’.

Unlike the previous two releases, Ficek decided to go on a different direction for the forthcoming release.

When talking about the sound of the new album the musician said “I’ve been influenced by a bigger sounding beatier sound … It’s not electro but I’m not going to ignore the benefits that tougher beats can provide, so I’m hoping for a happy medium.”

As a treat to fans RKC is giving away the first single off the new album, “Here Comes Summer“.

The Kills recently stopped by Australian radio network Triple J where they performed a live in-studio acoustic session.

The duo performed their latest single “Satellite” as well as a cover of Marilyn Monroe‘s “One Silver Dollar” from the 1954 western, River of No Return.

The Horrors are set to release their latest album ‘Skying‘ in the U.S. on August 9th on XL Records.

The band’s follow-up to 2009′s ‘Primary Colours‘ has already received critical acclaim and debut at #5 on the U.K. album charts when it was released earlier this month (in Europe).

As a way to promote the new album fans were asked this week to tweet “#strangemercy” enough times in order to unlock a new track off the album.

Today the track, “Surgeon“, was officially unlocked and posted on the album’s website.

The free app, which is available on iTunes and the Android Marketplace, allows users to create custom schedules, browse the line-up, and view a festival map.

Thanks to a partnership with Slacker Radio, the app also allows users to stream free tracks from artist set to perform at this year’s festival as well as past acts.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Nirvana‘s legendary album, ‘Nevermind‘, Spin magazine has enlisted the help of several bands to produce a track-by-track cover of the entire album, titled ‘Newermind‘.

Surfer Blood, Telekinesis, JEFF the Brotherhood, and Titus Andronicus are among the bands who recorded covers of tracks off the LP.

Spin is offering the tribute album as a free download on their Facebook page beginning today.
