Kings of Leon have announced plans to embark on an extensive North American tour later this year.

The outing, set to kick off June 5 in Atlantic City, will see the band play amphitheaters in the U.S. and Canada.

Among the dates announced are shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and Houston.

The band will continue to support their latest album, ‘Only By The Night‘, on the forthcoming tour.

Kings of Leon have been confirmed as headliners for this year’s forthcoming V Festival.

Also set to headline the two-day bash, which is set for August 21-22 in two separate sites, Chelmsford  and Staffordshire, England, will be Kasabian.

Joining the headliners will be The Kooks, Florence and The Machine, White Lies, Sterophonics, and many more.

Kings of Leon, Dead Weather, and Stevie Wonder are among the acts set to play the forthcoming Bonnaroo Festival later this year.

The lineup for the four-day bash has been unveiled and includes such highlights as Jay-Z, Weezer, The Black Keys, and She & Him.

The festival, which is set to take place June 10-13 in Manchester, Tennessee, will also see performances by Local Natives, LCD Soundsystem, and Regina Spektor.

Several more acts are still to be revealed but for now see the initial lineup below.

Kings of Leon are taking a half-year break from music and touring.

In an interview with Q Magazine, Kings of Leon drummer, Nathan Followill revealed plans for the break.

Speaking about the break the drummer said, “I’m going to sit on my couch and cry tears of joy sitting in my pants with a tub of chocolate chip cookie ice cream.”

Followill also revealed to Q Magazine that the band already have tracks written up for their next album.

“We have ten songs already. Two weeks ago we had a set-up in a dressing room in Vancouver and re-ran through them.” (via NME)

Kings of Leon are teaming up with French designers Surface To Air to create their own clothing line.

The clothing line will be released in limited quantities exclusively at the ParisTexas shop in Copenhagen, Denmark early next month.

The Followill boys have designed several pieces of clothing and accessories including button-ups, a jacket, a hat, and shoes.

Kings of Leon are set to release a live DVD later next month.

Kings Of Leon: Live At The O2 London, England‘ is due out November 9 and features footage from the band’s three-night sting at the O2 arena in London which took place in June.

The film, the band’s first official live DVD, was directed by Nick Wickham.

A Blu-Ray version is due out November 23.

Dead Weather, Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and MGMT are among the artists nominated for a 2009 mtvU Woodie Award.

Also topping the nominated are Grizzly Bear, Green Day, and Ra Ra Riot.

The 6th annual awards show, whose nominees are chosen strictly by college students, is set to air Friday, December 4 on mtvU, MTV, MTV2, and Palladia.

Music fans can now headover to woodies.mtv.com to vote for their favorite nominees, voting runs through November 16.

Kings of Leon have revealed plans to release a remix album later this year.

Drummer Nathan Followill told Billboard.com that the forthcoming album will feature remixes by Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, Mark Ronson, and Linkin Park, among others.

“It’s amazing to hear your song played by these people who are so creative. Most of the time it takes me two or three listens to even wrap my head around, ‘Oh man, that’s our song…’”, said Followill.

The Kings of Leon were forced to drop their slot at this weekends Benicassim festival.

The band cancelled their headlining slot after extreme wind and weather conditions temporarily closed down the festival on Friday, July 17.

Dangerous winds forced organizers to quickly take down large stage equipment including video screens.

The Kings of Leon were due to take the stage at 11pm but their slot was pushed back and later cancelled with the band departing the festival soon after.
