Kings of Leon were forced to cancel their show mid way at the St Louis Verizon Amphitheatre on Friday (July 23) due to a pigeon infestation.
The band began their set at the venue when they began to get hit by pigeon droppings.
Several of the droppings hit bassist Jared Followill, one of them even hitting his mouth.
“So sorry St Louis. We had to bail, pigeons shitting in Jared’s mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue,” Tweeted drummer Nathan Followill after the show.
Kings of Leon weren’t the only victims of the pigeons, support bands The Postelles and The Stills were also hit by several droppings.
According to the band’s management the band didn’t want to abandon the show but the situation became “a toxic health hazard” and they were forced to stop their set.
“Jared [Followill] was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn’t deal any longer. It’s not only disgusting it’s a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there,” said management spokesman Andy Mendelsohn.
The band have not announced plans to reschedule the St. Louis show.

Speaking at a press conference as part of the Bonnaroo festival, Followill said the the new album and follow-up to 2008’s ‘Only By The Night‘ is “coming along great”.
The drummer also revealed that the album will be “beach-y” and sound similar to the band’s early album, ‘Youth & Young Manhood‘.
“[It was the] first time we ever recorded in New York City and we thought we’d come out with a darker record because we’d done all our records in either Nashville or Los Angeles where it’s a little more chilled out,” said Followill.
“I’ll be damned if we didn’t go in there and make a fun record! It’s got songs that are beach-y and songs that are a little more like our Youth & Young Manhood days. We’re super excited. It will be interesting to see how well received it is,” he added.
Followill gave no details as to when the band will release the new album.
The Kings of Leon are set to play this year’s Bonnaroo festival.
