M.I.A. has revealed plans to release a new album later this year.

Speaking to Rolling Stone M.I.A. said she would release the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Kala‘, sometime this summer.

The forthcoming album was mostly produced by Blagstarr.

The singer also revealed that the new album would see her both singing and rapping stating, “I just stopped singing on the last one because I put more emphasis into production, so I was more about making beats and sang less on my last album.”

No exact release date was announced for the new album.

Universal Records, Sony Music, Warner Music, and EMI have announced plans to roll out their own file format later this year to replace the popular MP3 format.

The labels have joined together to introduce the CMX format.

The major labels have reportedly been working on the new format for years and hope to sell a single file that will include tracks, lyrics, album art, and music videos.

In a move sure to hurt any momentum the new format gets, Apple has announced they too are making their own file format.

The CMX format will reportedly begin to show up on select album releases later this year.

On a side note, not event the labels behind CMX are confident in the CMX format, stating they are “not going out in force” with it’s release.


No your not having deja vou, Franz Ferdinand are indeed premiering another music video for ‘No You Girls‘.

The boys are premiering version two of the video that’s a slightly darker version.

The track is off the band’s latest album, “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand“.

The Arctic Monkeys have announced the official release date for their as-yet-untitled new album.

The band are set to release the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare‘ on August 25 in the U.S. and the previous day in the UK.

The forthcoming album was produced by both James Ford and Queens Of The Stone Age man Josh Homme.

Homme’s produced about half the tracks on the album while Ford produced the other half.

The Arctic Monkeys previously revealed that the new album was heavily inspired by Black Sabbath.

The band have also released the tracklisting for the new album, which is below.

Vampire Weekend are set to perform a new song when they make an appearance on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon‘.

The band will play the late night talk show, which recently got taken over by Jimmy Fallon after Conan O’ Brien left to replace Jay Leno, tonight (March 18).

The band will play the track ‘White Sky‘ at their performance tonight.



Vampire Weekend
Forget the White Stripes or the Raconteurs it looks like Jack White has a new band.

The new band, named The Dead Weather, features White along with The KillsAlison Mosshart, the RaconteursJack Lawrence, and Queens Of The Stone Age’s Dean Fertitas.

Mosshart is the band’s frontwoman while White contributes both vocals and drums, Lawrance plays bass and Fertita plays guitar.

The band’s debut single, “Hang You Up From The Heavens“, is now available exclusive through iTunes and via Third Man Records.

The band’s debut album, ‘Horehound‘, is due out later this year.


U2 have announced a few details about their forthcoming album.

Bono and Co. are set to release their new album, ‘No Line on the Horizon‘, on March 3, 2009 via Interscope.

The band’s twelfth studio album was originally slated for release in 2008 but was postponed after the band was unhappy with some of the material.

Although the band has yet to release a full tracklisting, Billboard reports that the album will include tracks “Moment of Surrender” and “Unknown Caller.”

No Line on the Horizon‘ is the follow-up to 2004’s ‘How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb‘.

The Rakes are in the mist of prepping their new full-length studio album for release later next year.

Klang‘, the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Ten New Messages‘, is set for release March 23 in the UK.

The 11-track album will include tracks ‘Never Get Married‘, ‘That’s The Reason‘, and ‘1989‘.

The fist single off the forthcoming album, ‘1989‘, will be released on March 16.



The Rakes
Lily Allen has premiered the music video for ‘The Fear‘.

The track is off her forthcoming sophomore album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You‘, due out in the UK February 9.

The Fear‘ is the lead single off the forthcoming album and will be released physically and digitally on January 26, 2009.

Fountains Of Wayne have revealed a few details about their new album.

Bassist Adam Schlesinger recently told Billboard that the band hoped to release the new album sometime in 2009.

“We still have a ways to go, but we have eight songs that are relatively close to complete now. We’re looking to regroup after the New Year and do the second batch,” Schlesinger told Billboard.

“I think we’re trying some different things on this record, but we’re still the same band, to me. It’s kind of too early to say what direction it’s going to as a whole.”
