Got A Music Related Startup? Tell Us About It!

radioheadRadiohead’s highly anticipated new album could be released as early as this year.

In an interview with BBC 6Music, guitarist Ed O’Brien revealed that the band were almost finished recording the new album.

O’Brien believes the forthcoming album and follow-up to 2007’s ‘In Rainbows‘ is the band’s best album to date.

“We’re in the heart of the record. It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been,” said the guitarist.

Although he was unsure of an exact release date O’Brien said he hoped the album would be released “sometime this year”.

“Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you’re making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it’s in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there… it might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks.”

Phil Selway

Radiohead drummer Phil Selway has revealed a few details about his forthcoming solo album.

Selway is set to release his debut album on August 30.

The album, entitled ‘Familial‘, was produced by Ian Davenport and features 10 tracks.

Abbey Road Studios for Sale

Start smashing those piggy banks; Abbey Road is for sale.  Struggling parent label EMI announced Tuesday that they are selling the legendary recording studio due to financial crisis.

Birthplace of a hefty portion of the Beatles’ discography, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Radiohead’s The Bends, and countless other music mega giants, Abbey Road has transcended mere studio status and become a true piece of music mythology, a cultural icon, a shrine for Beatles fans and music lovers across the globe. Former Beatle Paul McCartney charmingly quipped to the Financial Times, “It still is a great studio. So it would be lovely if somebody could get a thing together to save it.”

Yes Paul, it would be lovely indeed.

Radiohead have revealed plans to head back to the studio early next year to continue work on their next album.

In a post on their Dead Air Space blog, guitarist Ed O’Brien wrote, “The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present, and we head off into the studio in January to continue on from the work we started last summer.”

“I am so genuinely excited about what we’re doing, but for obvious reasons I can’t divulge anything more,” he continued.

The new album will be the follow-up to 2007’s ‘In Rainbows‘.

A previously unreleased track by Radiohead has reportedly leaked online.

The track, which is entitled ‘These Are My Twisted Words‘, has appeared on YouTube.

The frontman on the track does sound like Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke but no one has confirmed the songs authenticity.

The band have been recording new material with producer Nigel Godrich so there’s a good chance the track could have come off one of those sessions.
